Join our Fall Fast: Making Space for God

November 6th-21st

MONASTICA hosts this fall’s seasonal attunement—an invitation to turn toward God before entering a season that can hold both celebration and sorrow.

As the holidays approach, we make room to meet family relationships, loss, griet, and loneliness with greater presence and compassion.

Through fasting, prayer, and embodied practice, we explore what becomes possible when we release what crowds our attention and listen for the Spirit within. We simplify to make space for renewal—to heal, to reconcile, to reclaim, and to live with divine aliveness.

We have two embodied facilitators for our time together that will help set the stage and support us in this fasting period.

Devorah Burson brings personal experience and facilitation in releasing addictive patterns.

Chris Sartain shares his spiritual wisdom of fasting through the Essene and Kriya lineages.

Lauren Kimberly Rose offers embodied practices to help ground intentions and sustain commitment.

Together, we'll consider fasting from food, habits, or distractions as a devotional practice shaped by our individual needs and capacities.

What might we set down so that we can receive more fully?

How you will be supported:

  • Two to three Zoom meetings during the fast. This is where you learn philosophy and supportive practices around fasting

  • Collective container of support. Connect with others as they embark on the same, yet uniquely experienced, journey

  • Daily support through a private Telegram Channel

Lauren is Mother of three adult children, living in the Midwest, USA.

Devorah Burson

Mental and Spiritual Repair and Renewal

Sister Devorah is devoted to living in Compassion. She is a Sister in Monastica and rooted in the contemplative stream of early Christian mysticism. Raised within Christianity, she spent her early adulthood in rebellion—then nearly forty years in study of comparative religion and practicing mysticism, seeking the thread of the Divine across traditions.

Those decades were not all light. She traveled roads belonging to the Way of Death, and speaks of that season honestly. Repentance brought her back to the narrow gate and into Yeshua's teachings. She has since given herself to study of the New Nazarene path—the Way of Love and Life.

Vegetarian since the age of twelve (30 years) and now vegan for 16 years, she understands dietary discipline not as restriction but as participation in the peaceable kingdom. She practices a refusal of violence against creation.

She is a follower of Yeshua - practicing meditation, prayer & fasting, Baptism in the Living Waters, and more.

She is happy keeping company with other Contemplatives and learning to live The Way of life.

Christopher Sartain

Founder of Essene Ebionite Church of Christian Mysticism

Christopher Sartain is an author, researcher, and spiritual teacher originally from Atlanta, Georgia.

Since 2015, he has lived in the Andes Mountains of Chile, where he operates a small retreat center dedicated to contemplative practice, healing, and nature-based spirituality.

He is also the director of Vinyasa Yoga Chile, whose 200 and 300 hour teacher training programs have graduated more than 600 students.

His recent work has focused on the development of an online ministry exploring the teachings and traditions associated with the Essenes, Nazarenes, and Ebionites, with an emphasis on early Jewish-Christian spirituality.

Christopher is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Religious Studies.
